索妮娅（Lena Stolze 列娜?斯特兹 饰）是德国巴伐利亚地区一所高中里的女学生，为了参加论文比赛，她四处收集资料，准备就“第三帝国下的家乡”为题写一篇论文。但随着调查的深入，她遇到了越来越多的阻力。无论是村民还是政府的官员，都不愿索妮娅揭开这个小镇的纳粹历史。索妮娅的家庭和爱情承受了巨大压力，她本人更被政府告上法庭。一夜之间，原本众人眼中的天真姑娘似乎变成了人人憎恨的坏女孩……
本片改编自真实事件，荣获1991年奥斯卡最佳外语片题名和1990年柏林电影节银熊奖。
