驻扎在印度尼西亚的美国CIA探员，詹姆斯·席尔瓦，从小就有狂躁症的他，却是数一数二的特工他所属的精密作战小队从接到任务开始就不再归属任何国家的管控。正当席尔瓦的团队在为放射性核武器的下落苦恼时，当地警官李努尔，也是团队的污点证人，突然现身并揭发了核武器的所在。剩下的核武器所在地点被他加密保存，他要求席尔瓦等人8小时内把他送出印尼，才会说出密码，否则所有未找到的核武器就会同时爆炸。时间紧迫，席尔瓦等人立即向CIA递交了辞呈准备先锋护送行动，目的是把李努尔送到22英里之外的飞机“天使号”上，并得到李努尔手中的磁盘密码。短短的22英里，却是危机四伏，当地的印尼特工为了追捕李努尔，对席尔瓦进行了沉痛的打击。但他们双方都不知道的是，俄方情报局正在背后秘密监视着整个行动，席尔瓦等人也并不知道这场行动从一开始就是场特洛伊行动。
