从小出生在大巴窑的保险经纪国程(黄奕良饰)，啤酒工厂人事部主任保美(李南星饰)和啤酒工厂机器维修主管朋琨(苏智诚饰)，三人一起长大，已经是三十多年的邻居，更是三十多年的好朋友了。国程做事好高骛远，他有一位在银行担任出纳的妻子惠明(黄碧仁饰〕，妻子为了国程总是在外乱花钱而不断的唠唠叨叨，最终让国程不厌其烦走到了离婚的地步。 保美是一个没有安全感的人，他现在居住在三房式组屋,不开车不用冷气,甚至从来不请朋友去喝茶吃饭，而饿了就用积攒的谷物来充饥抗饿。到了交女朋友的年纪，他也是计算着如何才能交到一个最省钱的女朋友，就这样，慢慢的到了四十岁，他还是依然自己一个人。 朋琨和保美是公司的同时，他总是偷偷的跑回家偷懒，陪着老婆和孩子，朋琨的妻子锦绣(杨莉冰饰)有一个阿姨，Elephant(朱咪咪饰)。Elephant是个老姑婆,没有什么工作的她在大巴窑的中心开起了婴儿用品店，她和惠明开的什么都卖的现在是他那个牛脾气的父亲(李文海饰)经营的二手商店正是两两相望。 两个人经常为了收入生意等事情吵架斗嘴，两位老师的事情，让夹杂在中间的朋琨和国程很为难。 在这里的所有老邻居、老朋友的财产和贷款都在惠明和国程的妹妹淑怀（谢宛谕饰)工作的银行办理, 国程妹妹淑怀是一个对于工作十分有拼劲儿并且热情善良的人，她对于保美却看不上眼儿，可是却没有想到的是，在一次意外中，两个人竟然爱上了彼此，坠入了爱河，这件事情让国程无法接受，他不赞同，并且大力的反对。 Elephant在朋琨耳边吹着耳边风，鼓励他让他买公寓，可是谁也想不到的是，当定金给了的时候，朋琨却被炒了。朋琨认为一定是有奸细害他，才会导致今天的局面，而这个人，他怀疑到了保美的头上，他不在和保美来往。国程为朋琨介绍了一个工作，却因为朋琨的本性难移而跟他翻脸，两个人从此以后，互不往来…… 可是有天国程查出抑郁症风，朋琨不忍丢下他，两个人不计前嫌，忘掉所有的不愉快，还是以前最要好的朋友！
