在黄沙漫天、贫穷落后的黄海固，学生们每天几乎都会朗诵一篇绿意盎然的小诗，然而，绿色对他们来讲永远是个梦。不仅如此，贫穷还在每天威胁着他们，很多人因为负担不起学费而永远告别了教室。这天，学校放暑假了，老师告诉大家开学时要交二十四块八毛的学费。十二岁的王燕（吴旭 饰）家里还有两个弟弟也在上学，七十多块的学费对这个贫困家庭来说并不轻松，妈妈说了让她下学期就不要去上学了。为了能继续留在学校，王燕决定自己去把学费赚回来。
