为彻底清除共产党的秘密活动，党国方面派出代号“美女蛇”的特务来到萍乡担任“剿共特别顾问”，当地敌保安局、警察局全部听从美女蛇的指挥。美女蛇心狠手辣，作风强硬，她的到来使我党的地下工作遭到最为严重的破坏。这一天，萍乡镇响起了鞭炮声。医学博士陈洪烈在镇上开办了一家诊所，而他的另一个身份则是井冈山红军的侦察员，此行他肩负着帮红军搞到急需药品的重任，并建立起通往井冈山的信息通道。经过一番试探，他的身份得到当地共青团组织的确认，团员们在他的部署下四下寻觅药物。得知药物丢失的美女蛇怒不可遏，她命令手下追查地下党。
敌我双方在这个白色恐怖最严重的区域展开了殊死斗争……
