香港总督察林国正（吕良伟饰）为人嫉恶如仇，出生入死，铲除黑帮活动无数，其妻Kitty（翁虹饰）多年来一直担心丈夫的安全。在多番警告和劝说之下，林国正也顾及妻子和儿子Billy的安定，便毅然答应了妻子移民的决定。其实林国正不愿意移民，但为了挽回家庭，只有请长假到纽约，希望说服妻子改变移民之打算。可惜在阴差阳错之下，林国正街头偶遇仇家王子（郑浩南饰），林在保护Kitty之余，终于和王子展开激烈火拼......
